Flow simulation (CFD)
Prediction of thermal comfort and energy demand for innovative building concepts
Numerical flow simulation (Computational Fluid Dynamics, CFD) provides comprehensive overall information about the air temperatures and air speeds in the room, which cannot be achieved through measurement in practice. Depending on the CFD software, it is also possible to obtain information regarding ventilation efficiency and thermal comfort. Air flows inside ducts and ventilation openings can also be examined. Due to the availability of powerful computers, CFD simulations have become practicable with reasonable effort, but the cost of the software itself is still very high.
